Regional Differences
Nintendo of America's policies required some changes regarding depictions of alcohol, smoking, and exploding clothing.

The bonus game that can increase your maximum spirit gauge is known as the "Beer Bottle Cut" in the Japanese version. The text was altered to remove the reference to beer, and the graphics for the beer bottles were changed to just be generic gray bottles of... whatever.

|
The special move bonus game's technique was renamed from the "Super Death Blow" to the "Super Fire Blow".
King Things
| Japan | US/Europe |

|
Famously, defeating King with a fireball move will show that she is a woman (rather than an effeminate man) by destroying most of her shirt, revealing her brassiere. Rather than being completely removed, this was toned down so that her shirt is unbuttoned, but still intact.

This change was reflected in her loss portrait after this is done. The fingers on her left hand were also slightly redrawn.

Mr. Big's hand was redrawn in the ending to remove the cigarette, and the sign for Mac's Bar was also edited once again. The ending text was also slightly changed to remove any mentions of Jeff Bogard being killed, instead being written around as "disposed of" or "defeated" instead.
