W-05 Gladion is the name given to what is essentially a mix of an action figure and a plug & play system, tied in to Takara's Dennou Boukenki Webdiver series. This was the "main" product, and while other figures in the series didn't have plug & play connectivity of their own, they could connect with Gladion to act as in-game enhancements.

Test Menu

Booting the game while holding Left + Right redirects the player to a test menu. This will not work properly on a soft reset, as the game will hang on the screen above. Furthermore, on MAME, the port IN1 must be set to Off on the DIP Switches menu.

At first, a checksum test is done with the game's internal, palette and sprite RAMs, with the latter seemingly failing on emulation.

Pressing any buttons while on this screen redirects the player to a color bar...

...and then to an input test menu. Holding a button makes the input name appear in red, after which it will become green. This does not apply to the head and arm connector inputs, which appear red at first. After all buttons become green, the game freezes.
