Flying Warriors is a localized remake of Hiryuu no Ken II that employs the graphical and mechanical improvements from Hiryuu no Ken III, alongside an altered soundtrack including a few tunes from III. It redesigned the transformed states of the main heroes in order to give them Americanized superhero-like designs (or at least what passed for American superheroes in the minds of the Japanese developers), going as far as to even replace the original title theme with a new one that totally doesn't sound like John Williams' Superman theme in any form.

The Flying Warriors, mainly Rick, would go on to be used in future Hiryuu no Ken localizations such as Ultimate Fighter, and in-place of the Hiryuu no Ken characters in cameo appearances in other Culture Brain games (including Little Ninja Brothers which was released in the US the same month) up until Flying Dragon on Nintendo 64. It even got a promotional comic in GamePro, which lasted for 12 surprisingly lengthy issues.

Game Genie code GESLAPEI will re-enable an in-game stage select routine. During the game, hold A and press Start. A number will appear instead of the game's menu. Select a location number, then press Select.

Enter the password 8xy, where x is the stage number from 1-4 and y is the sub-stage number from 1-3 (i.e., the password to the last level is 843).
