To celebrate EA's (then-)exclusive deal with Hasbro, Mr Potato Head decides to host a Family Game Night, featuring a selection of his favorite Hasbro board games for you to play, with additional variants to add to the package.

Platform Differences

PlayStation 2/Wii

Both the original PlayStation 2 and Wii versions are identical in content, although the Wii version utilizes motion controls for gameplay.

Xbox 360 version

The Xbox 360 version features higher-quality graphics, Xbox Avatar support (replacing the generic icons used to represent your play and CPUs seen in the other versions), achievements, online functionality, and voice chat. The North American release also adds Scrabble to the list of available games.

It was originally released as a free Xbox Live Arcade "destination" in March 2009, with each of the six/seven games available for 800 Microsoft Points. Games were released in two phases: Battleship, Connect Four, Scrabble, and Yahtzee were available at launch, while Boggle, Sorry!, and Sorry! Sliders were released at the end of May.

A physical version was released in November 2009. It is essentially a ROM of the Xbox Live Arcade version put onto a physical disc with all six/seven games available from the start. It functions like a download game, although it requires the disc to be put in and the game won't display on a player's account unless the game is exited out of manually on the menu.

DLC released the following year added Connect 4x4, Jenga, and Pictureka! from the then-Wii exclusive second entry.

PlayStation 3 version

Unlike the Xbox 360 version, it was released digitally as a complete package with all the games available from the start. It uses the generic icons seen in the PlayStation 2/Wii versions as the PlayStation 3 has no in-system avatar creator, and the extra DLC from the Xbox 360 version was not released for it.

Regional Differences

North America International
HFGN1 Xbox 360 Menu Screen PAL.png

PAL-region releases of the Xbox 360 and PlayStation 3 versions don't include Scrabble as a playable game. This is due to Mattel owning the rights to the game outside North America and EA's Hasbro contract only allowing for rights within the continent (as Mattel already licensed the video game rights in all other countries to Ubisoft).

For unknown reasons, all achievements related to Scrabble on the Xbox 360 version remain in the PAL release, making them impossible to obtain. At least EA was kind enough to acknowledge that in the description for the achievements by way of bracketed text.
