Mick & Mack as the Global Gladiators was one of those games that got ports to every platform under the sun... or at least, that was the plan. The Game Boy port was among the multiple versions of the game that ended up getting cancelled for whatever reason.
While it's unclear if development continued past this point, this prototype is technically beatable, though it features stiff controls, horribly jerky scrolling, and screechy, off-tempo music.
Cheat Mode
During gameplay, pause and press Left, Up, Right, Down, Left, Left, Up, Up, Right, Right, Down, Down, Up, Down. "On" will appear above and to the left of "Paused" to confirm correct entry, and the following effects will be enabled:
- Mick and Mack are invulnerable to some sources of damage (exceptions include the final boss battle).
- Levels (except the final boss battle) can be skipped by pressing Select.
- Upon beating the game, the above developer message/credits will appear instead of the normal ending.
- When getting a game over, the below message will scroll in place of the options screen:
