Trailer
Bloons TD 5 was first revealed from the release of the short-lived game Who Wants To Be A Bloonionaire?, which showcased the trailer for this game when completed. The game appears to be at an near finished point in development, but there are still many differences compared to the final release:
(This list will be comparing the footage to the original 2011 release of the game)
- Bloons from Red to Pink are seen around the hills on the title screen.
- The Ninja Monkey tower has a completely different design for every upgrade except base. Differences that can be seen are that the Flash Bomb upgrade has a blue headband instead of red, and the Double Shot upgrade is black with a purple headband instead of white with a red headband.
- Boomerang Thrower is cheaper.
- The Monkey Ace's head is visible on the top of the plane in the Operation: Dart Storm(0-3) and Ground Zero(0-4) upgrades, like the last game. Even the Supply Drop plane from the Sniper Monkey has this.
- The tower pop count text is blue like the tower name rather than green. Its position is also higher up compared to final.
- The special agents have upgrade tier graphics set to 0-1. Clearly don't belong there.
- Limited amount of cash and lives in sandbox mode, like BTD4.
- At the top left corner in the "2 UPGRADE PATHS" clip, the text "wave" can be seen.
- Sometimes the text "Progress saved XD" can be seen, presumably when the save button is pressed.
- The Destroyer upgrade for the Monkey Buccaneer has four normal Buccaneer cannons on its sides instead of four small gray cannons and two light gray triple-barrel cannons.
- Every tower upgrade's medium price is included in their upgrade panel next to their current ones with parentheses.
- The Dragon's Breath upgrade for the Monkey Apprentice presumably uses the
Singleweapon here, as its projectile is moving like a dart. - The ability buttons can be colors other than red; for example, the MOAB Assassin ability's color is blue, the Blade Maelstrom ability is light blue, the Supply Drop ability is yellow, and the MOAB Takedown ability is pink.
- The green background behind the upgrade icons is not transparent.
- The BTD5 logo at the end has slightly less bold in the white outlines, most noticeable around the Os.
Website
A website also existed, featuring the trailer, some wallpapers of the towers, "notebooks" with information on a selection of towers, a gallery which showcased gameplay, and a link to the aforementioned Who Wants To Be A Bloonionaire? game.
This section will only cover images that have differences from final.
Notebook Pages
- As mentioned earlier, the Destroyer upgrade for the Monkey Buccaneer has four normal Buccaneer cannons on its sides instead of four small gray cannons and two light gray triple-barrel cannons. Strangely, the upgrade icon for the upgrade in the final game still reflects this design, probably due to the fact that the change was made a month before final.
- The Monkey Fort upgrade for the Monkey Village on this note has its fort out.
