SOMETIMES I SEE A TEXT BOX AND I JUST CAN'T HELP MYSSDFGFFDHFGDJGGFSHGDFH
This page sucks.
If you could make it suck less, that would be awesome.
Specifically: Almost the entire page is a copy-paste of Red Dead Wiki. John Marston does not approve!
And you were just a scroll away from being fired too...
Oh dear, I do believe I have the vapors.
This page contains content that is not safe for work or other locations with the potential for personal embarrassment.
Such as:
Abigail Marston's uncensored milkers.
Hmmm...
To do:
  • Lots of unused text.
  • There are unused multiplayer zombie models.
  • Demonstrate the unused functionality for cows, certain buffalo, certain bulls, cars, rafts, and canoes driven by the player.
  • Censorship in the Japanese version.
  • Look into the Debug Symbols left in the Switch Executable.

Red Dead Redemption is an open-world Western game and a spin-off to Red Dead Revolver set in a different, more realistic universe. You play as gunslinger John Marston, sent by the US Government to kill his former outlaw associates, at the expense of saving his family. It's notable for being the first RAGE engine game to be playable on a Nintendo console, 13 years after its original release and since 2024 is now playable on PC.

Weapons

Some weapons were supposed to appear but were left out of the game or unused. These weapons include Walker Revolvers, Top Break Revolvers, a Melee Shovel, a weaker version of the Cattleman, Creedmoor rifle, Flintlock rifle, Short Bow, & a Lantern that would have been both holdable and used as a throwable explosive.

On the left is the Walker Revolver and gold variant, next to it is the Top Break Revolver and gold variant.

All weapons have unused gold models that are similar to the Golden Guns, albeit with various differences to the final game.

Cut Items

Cut from the game is a Double Bandolier which is the same as the original bandolier in the game except it features two instead of one. Its model is still present on the Bandito Outfit, although it goes unused.

Two drink bottles including Tequila and Whiskey appear to go unused, as well as a bottle of "adrenaline".

There is also a cut Bat Wings provision from when bats were skinnable, a Sacred Relic from Mother Superior's cut mission, a cut Sheriff Badge, a Train Ticket, Penny Dreadful Novel, Scripture Book, Gold Pan and Gold Nugget, a Treasure Box, and a horse lantern that would've likely attached to the player's saddle.

Each horse can only be one, two, or three stars resulting in this generic deed being unused.

Early Item Icons

The Nosalida Package icon was originally a bottle of opium, and the bait icon was originally meat.

Removed Stranger Missions

Hmmm...
To do:
Replace the YouTube videos with OGGs.

Dwarf and the Giant
Marston meets a lonely dwarf, and he decides to find a friend for the dwarf. Marston goes to a drunken man in the search for a friend for the dwarf, and he is directed to a giant who supposedly lives in the hills. Upon finding the giant, Marston is greeted to some hostility from the giant and fights the giant to calm it down. The giant eventually agrees to meet the dwarf, but the dwarf and the giant do not get along well, with the giant accidentally killing a girl while trying to hold her. The dwarf, angry at the accidental killing, directs Marston to kill the giant. Marston is given a choice of whether to kill the giant or not.

Mother Superior
Mother Superior, who still appears in the game in another Stranger mission ("I Know You") and also the Undead Nightmare expansion pack, wants Marston to find four stolen relics.

Undead Nightmare

Abigail Marston's Undead model
Weird little fun fact: for whatever reason, although difficult to notice during normal gameplay, Abigail's undead model has some see-through nighties, with extra detail underneath her chest area...

(Ehem, she has nipples.)

Wanted Posters

Many cut bounty posters were left over in the game files for characters including Enepay, Helaku, Kosumi, Nashoba, and Hassun from Dutch's Gang, Diego Bocanegra (which features his unused hat model), Franciso Aragon, Rafael Vallerino, Victor Ortega from the Mexican Army, Outlaw on Horse, Outlaw in Blue, and Outlaw in Brown of Bill Williamson's gang, The Tudisco Kid, and John Marston as well as Abraham Reyes who sports an unused goatee. Julius Grimes and Slink Bradshaw, despite appearing as bounties in the final game, have unused versions of their posters leftover in the files. The poster that is used for Slink depicts him with an unused beard.

Missing Person Poster

Even the Red Dead Redemption DLC Undead Nightmare got into the act with its Missing Persons activity. This was similar to the bounty hunting missions in the main game, except the people on the posters had to be rescued from attacking zombies and returned to their families located in the safe zones of either Fort Mercer or El Presidio. There are 16 missing souls in the official release, but the game disc has 17 posters.

The character, Lloyd Duffy, is actually included in an official Rockstar Games screenshot depicting the activity but was ultimately cut from the roster. In the main game, Duffy refers to the fact that he has "no friends and no family" which might have been what got him cut since there would be no one to "miss" him enough to make the poster.
