This is a sub-page of Spyro: A Hero's Tail (GameCube, Xbox, PlayStation 2).

StartPoints are triggers placed around a map at which the player can spawn, typically a Zoe is placed next to them. Most of the levels feature unused StartPoints, either used for testing purposes, or which had their dedicated Zoe removed some time during development.
As with basically everything else in the game, StartPoints use 4-byte Hashcodes as a way to uniquely identify them. The StartPoint Hashcodes always start with 0x4A, and they are not global (meaning they get reused a lot between maps).
It's likely the StartPoints with Hashcode 0x4A000000 were often the first ones to be added to a map, leading to them either being unused once proper checkpoints were implemented, or moved to serve that purpose themselves. StartPoints with Hashcodes above 0x4A000100 were likely made for testing purposes, given high Hashcode numbers to not interfere with the other StartPoints, though there are a few cases where these are actually used in the game.

In the following example images, the player has been placed in the same position and angle as the StartPoint trigger itself (whenever possible).
