Test Drive Off-Road 3 is the third entry in the Test Drive Off-Road family. Remarkably unremarkable.

Unused Graphics

Within the zip files in the Tracks folder on the CD (not on the hard drive) are several unused images, possibly from other games.

Hicar.tga

A defaced texture sheet for a Dodge Viper model, from Test Drive 4. The scribble reads "Chris (CHhs?) was ere 23-5-97". This was possibly done as an inside joke for or by Chris Downend, the Executive Producer for Test Drive Off-Road 3.

Locar1 - 5.tga

An unused texture sheet for a Hummer H1, different from the one used in-game. The file is copied four times in each track's zip file, numbered 1 through 5.

Text.tga

A character set that doesn't match up to the font used in-game.

Unused Text

From 0xBDF8C to 0xBDFF8 in the game's executable is a line of profane words and several suspicious terms. The intention of them is unknown, but likely was intended for a word filter.

Debug Keys

These are listed in the readme.

• Pressing Ctrl+F enables Fly Mode, which separates the camera from the car, allowing you to noclip through the level. Oddly, the readme states that the key combination for this is Alt+F, but it doesn't work.

• Pressing Ctrl+P will display your x, y, and z position, along with what type of surface you're on (rock, gravel, water, mud, etc.).

• Pressing Pause or Break (dependent on your keyboard) will stop the game, as if you've hit Esc but without the text asking if you'd like to quit the race. The spacebar is used to advance frame-by-frame, one at a time.

• Pressing Ctrl+R displays the frame rate.
