Hmmm...
To do:
  • Take a look at the versions of the game (there seems to be multiple...) that is included with the UMD Video of the movie Stealth. Can it support DLC and save data from the standard version?
    • Evidently, this version had its title ID changed, and some lines (generally empty) were removed for no apparent reason, which makes it hard to see any small, yet important changes.
  • Take a look at the prototypes, which are worth a look, though they are prone to crashing.
    • The early builds also have different XMB backgrounds.
    • There are also seemingly unfinished concept arts in the December 2, 2004 prototype.
    • The random assortment of letters and numbers in the files names are derived from a modified CRC32 of each file's path, some of the images that have the same name indicate that a few images had their positions changed between builds.
  • The unlockable concept art gallery shows some different track designs: One shows the DLC track Ubermall lacking the disco cat head, while another shows a track similar to Sol 2, but with a jump.
  • A bar indicating your ship's trust is seen in the press kit and prototypes. This bar can be re-enabled via modding.

WipEout Pure is the series' debut on the PlayStation Portable, acting as a launch title for the system in North America and Europe.
Welcome to the ride of your life.

Obscure Textures

There are several strange textures in the game files.

WipEout HD Fury Kitten.png WipEout HD Fury Phil.png

On the left is photo of a kitten, which is cropped and horizontally resized from the original photo Kitten and scales by Greg Cuddiford. Likely randomly taken off the internet by the developers. original source.

On the right is a photo of Phil Harrison, former long-time executive of Sony Computer Entertainment.

Placeholder Music

In the file /data/xml/songlist.xml, there is a temporary list of bangin' breakbeat tunes the developers would have tested with before fully sorting out their music licensing contract with Distinctive. This lists notably use albums instead of the labels like retail does.
