I suggest the "JULES SUCKS" and "TOM IS KING" textures. They provide an interesting look into the behind-the-scenes tension between Tom Hall and ID software. — The preceding unsigned comment was added by MargaretThatcher (talk • contribs)

Early Yo-kai Watch Map
G&W Gallery 2 Early Title
| This suggestion was implemented. 2022-06-30 |
Game & Watch Gallery 2 is the second entry in the Game & Watch Gallery series of reimaginings from TOSE... or is it? In Australia and the UK this is actually the third in the Game Boy Gallery series, where they got an additional title the rest of the world never received! Needless to say, there are a bevy of regional variations on this particular title.
Depicted is an early title screen for the game that is seemingly meant to precede the main menu, which essentially serves as the title screen in the final game. Perhaps this screen was considered fluff in the way of getting into the main gameplay? Variations of this screen exist depending on if it is being viewed on a Super Game Boy (pictured) or a Game Boy Color.

- Correction - in the UK, we did get Game Boy Gallery, but unlike in Australia, the Game & Watch Gallery games weren't renamed. So it's not the third Game Boy Gallery game in the UK, there was only one, the others are Game & Watch Gallery as in the US. Digifiend (talk) 19:10, 30 June 2023 (UTC)

Reduction
Adding an image per day seems too tiring. Perhaps a better idea would be to move from one image per unique day to having 366 templates and for each day of the year it chooses between a random image, à la how Featured Articles work. --Hawk (talk) 23:04, 8 September 2022 (UTC)

Dillon Speaks
There is a unused animation of Dillon talking in Dillon's Dead-Heat Breakers, if this was ever to play in-game, this would be Dillon's first time talking. (Dillon is supposed to be the strong, silent type according to Russ) BlastoiseTCRF (talk) 17:25, 26 November 2023 (UTC)

Found by a user on Project Pokémon inside Blue Rescue Team's files, is a piece of artwork of a penguin.

Featured File Nomination
I'm nominating this image to be a featured file on the wiki.
This is the first proper screenshot of Duke Nukem Forever that was ever released. This was published on/around September 19th, 1997. Outside of that fact, seeing that this was one of the earliest prerelease media for a game as infamous as Duke Nukem Forever, it would be worth making it a featured file on this wiki. --Mantis (talk) 08:32, 21 July 2024 (UTC)
Nomination (Undertale)
I nominate this unused graphic for a Featured File.
I believe this graphic is notable for several reasons:
- It directly refers to dataminers trying to find unused content
- It replaced a previous unused graphic asking people to not datamine the game
- It both references a game that inspired Undertale (Earthbound), and alludes to a future Toby Fox game with the word "bepis" (Deltarune)
- It's funny
Here's a little blurb I whipped up as an example for what it could look like:
"Undertale is an indie RPG by first-time developer Toby Fox, in which the player has the choice to either spare every enemy or kill every enemy. It received critical acclaim for its innovative takes on typical RPG tropes, and its silly yet surprisingly emotional story.
Pictured here is an intentionally unused graphic that replaced an earlier message asking dataminers to not post sprites on the Spriter's Resource, just so things wouldn't get spoiled for the average player. The graphic here is intended to confuse and allow dataminers to post content with a strange set of sentences (in reference to EarthBound, one of the game's many inspirations), rather than politely asking them to not post anything."
It's rough, but it gets the idea across I think. Scrade (talk) 22:09, 22 August 2024 (UTC)
GTA IV Early map draft
I have another suggestion for a featured image; the early map draft of Liberty City from Grand Theft Auto IV. Desc:
Grand Theft Auto IV was released in 2008, acting as a soft reboot towards the franchise with revamped graphics and further in-depth features.
Pictured here is an early map draft of Liberty City, using the scale of San Andreas from Grand Theft Auto: San Andreas as reference. It was originally known as Liberty State, where it had real-life locales as references and tons of surrounding areas that would be cut in the final game. The developmental team heavily disliked the size of the map, thus causing it to be downgraded severely through development.
The idea of a game set in an entire state would not be fully realised until Grand Theft Auto V and to a larger extent, Grand Theft Auto VI. — The preceding unsigned comment was added by SodaDog (talk • contribs) 11:39, 22 September 2024
The Infamous Arrow Texture from Daikatana (Nomination)
I nominate the "hilariously large arrow texture" from Daikatana for featured files. Here's a rough draft for the blurb:
Daikatana is a game helmed by id Software alumni John Romero with an infamous teaser poster, a long development cycle, and an end result that massively underwhelmed due in part to inexcusable design decisions and bugs (although the Game Boy Color version is actually pretty decent).
As fabled in Gamespot's Knee Deep In A Dream: The Story of Daikatana retrospective, due to many of the game's artists struggled to work with the art limitations of the engine, due to lacking experience in the game industry. This came to ahead in late 1997, when Romero would receive an arrow texture that was 1300x960 pixels, which was quite large especially for 1997-era computers.
Found in a prototype dated August 1997 in the build's data\skin folder is this image. While not as large as the article says (now a mere 640 × 480 in comparison), it is still far too large for a goddamn arrow texture of all things.

Nominations: Super Paper Mario and Smurfs Dance Party
Super Paper Mario - Korean Version Maps
I already nominated this one as a "Did You Know?" fact, but I eventually felt it deserves to be a featured file instead.
The Korean version of this game features a variety of unused maps relating to a cancelled project featuring cats. This depicts the "kri_08" map and its cat character as an example.
The Smurfs Dance Party - Placeholder Video
A placeholder video of a man saying "Hello boys and girls, let me tell you how to play the game."
Since some random stuff like these are featured files, and that we currently don't have featured videos, I felt this should be one, too.

Yokozuna from Contra: Hard Corps in BROK the InvestiGator's 1.07 Prologue build.
Before the final game released for BROK the InvestiGator, a demo build was released on December 2020.
Containing lots of early assets, but also these set of sprites for the Hugebot final boss found in IMG/ANIM are interesting since they use Yokozuna from Contra: Hard Corps as a base, the folder and files within it were removed in the final game.
