The first entry of the series where you pick colored orbs (named drops) and match with them of the same color, in attempt to make a Chain Reaction.

It also features a different artstyle, compared to its sequels.

Hmmm...
To do:
  • Rip the orbs/drops (from the Japanese version) and the objects (from the International version) sprites and compare them.
  • Rip all the character voices from the Japanese version and the male voice from the International one.

Regional Differences

The Japanese version was rereleased as Magical Drop Plus 1!, adding a new mode and other changes. This in turn served as the basis for the International version, Chain Reaction.

Game Modes

Japan (Original) Japan (Rev.)/International

"Play alone!"
"Two-player battle!"
  • The original Japanese version features only the Battle Mode. Upon starting the game you'll be greeted with two options: Play the game alone against the computer (left option) or Play against another player (right option).
  • The Revised/International version added a new mode: Solo Play, along with the existing Battle Mode, where you play to obtain a high score without having to play against a computer. One flaw about this mode is that you can only play as the High Priestess.

Round Start

In the original Japanese version, the round starts instantly. In the Revised/International version, a dropping "START!" was added, before a round starts.

Voice Cast

In both Japanese versions, each character has a unique voice. In the International version, each character voice was replaced with a single male one. Here's a table of all voice actors:

Star Mitsuyo Sunada
(High) Priestess Eriko Kodaira
