Dragon Ball Z: Hyper Dimension is one of the most well-known and beloved Dragon Ball Z games, as well as being considered one of TOSE's best games. This is due to a combination of factors: being a massive improvement over the Super Butouden trilogy, and also for implementing new mechanics (such as Desperation Moves).

Oh, there's also Super Vegito!

Regional Differences

Like Shenron no Nazo and the Super Butouden trilogy, Hyper Dimension was released in Japan and in France. Unfortunately, while the French localization in those games is fine, Hyper Dimension got massively shafted.

English fan translations have since been made here and there, using the Japanese version as their base.

The katakana text over "Hyper Dimension" was removed, the copyright info was translated, and a Nintendo licensing credit was added.

The Japanese version features a story mode that goes from the Frieza saga to the Buu saga, although with some inconsistencies (e.g. Goku fighting Frieza in Super Saiyan 2 form). Inexplicably, the French version completely removed it, turning a stellar game into what's considered one of the worst localizations of all time.
