See, this is why server preservation is important.
This game/console's online features are no longer supported.
While this game/console's online features were once accessible, they are (as of April 8, 2024) no longer officially supported and online-exclusive features may be documented as now-unseen content.
Hmmm...
To do:
  • Document differences between the original and 'Rev 01' dump. Also document any changes between the American, European, and Japanese releases.
  • Add Unused Animations

Sonic Generations for the Nintendo 3DS was, until 2024, the only portable and only Nintendo variant of the hedgehog's 20th anniversary game, featuring a different selection of levels and gameplay styles than the console version.

Unused Graphics
3D tests, demo leftovers, and a scrapped hard mode?!

Unused Text

There are three hints that can be found in the DM_HELP.MG, which would've been shown in the story mode on the bottom screen whenever a question mark appears.

HELP_009: Once you pass this point, you will restart here if you die.
HELP_010: You can move by sliding along rails. Press "D-Pad" + Down + B(A) to jump down from a rail.
HELP_012: Hey, Sonic! Watch your step up ahead. It looks like it's really easy to fall!

Unused Models

SkySphere

This model can be found in the System directory alongside other test files. It's a simple sphere with large markers denoting the 3 axes (x,y,z).

Oddities

  • The first act of each zone in the Classic Era is infamously a 1:1 recreation of Act 1 from the source game, which results in an amusing quirk in Mushroom Hill Act 1: a checkpoint is placed immediately before the signpost, due to the original Sonic & Knuckles level ending with the Hey Ho boss fight.
