Namco's Famicom Star Wars was released only in Japan, and is completely different from the American/European NES game that would come later. It's notable for having been released on a silver cartridge, though it's moreso brought up nowadays for the fact that Darth Vader turns into a scorpion in the beginning of the game.
It also, surprisingly, shares quite a few gameplay elements with Alex Kidd in Miracle World. See here for more on that (warning: French)
Unused Graphics
An "Exit" icon intended for the subscreen. The final game allows you to just press Start to do that.
Continue
Hold Up and press A 8 times on the game over screen to continue at the cost of 30 Force points.
Level Select
For this code to work, you need to have a joystick connected to the Famicom's Expansion port. At the title screen, hold Up on the Joystick, Down on Controller 1, and press Start.
Alternatively, you can use the Famicom Arkanoid paddle controller through the expansion port. You simply press the single button on the title screen.
