Tatsunoko vs. Capcom: Ultimate All-Stars is a crossover fighting game featuring characters from Tatsunoko Production and Capcom's respective IPs.
The game was originally released in Japan for the Wii and arcade machines under the title Tatsunoko vs. Capcom: Cross Generation of Heroes in 2008 (with the arcade version omitting certain characters and all modes other than standard vs. battles), and was re-released internationally as Tatsunoko vs. Capcom: Ultimate All-Stars in 2010 after fan demand, with extra content such as new characters and the ability to play online via Nintendo Wi-Fi Connection.

Unused/Changed Music
Some of the menu themes (and the training stage theme) underwent changes for the Ultimate All-Stars release. Most notably they are just re-arrangements of the 2008 versions. Ultimate All-Stars also contains three new and unused tracks.
Across The Border (Japanese)
Across The Border (English)
The most dramatic overhaul of any of the tracks actually belongs to the main theme song. While recognisably the same base song, Ultimate All-Stars received a wildly different take, accompanied by English vocals... and a rap verse.
Start Screen [2008]
Start Screen [2010]
Cross Generations and All-Stars have two different start screens. There is a change in the narrator, and the following music was changed in 2010 to fit the new English theme, though some features remain.
Main Menu [2008]
Main Menu [2010]
Ultimate All-Stars' menu theme got a re-arrangement, along with a different "mid" section.
Character Select [2008]
Character Select [2010]
The character select theme also received some tweaks.
Upcoming Fight [2008]
Upcoming Fight [2010]
A slightly different version of the same jingle that plays during the loading screen while the game loads the stage and characters for the next fight.
Training Stage (Japanese)
Training Stage (English)
A training stage was added (only in Training mode) in Ultimate All-Stars. The Japanese version contains interesting lyrical content from the rapper of the Ultimate All-Stars theme, while the Western releases play an instrumental version instead.
A New Duo!
A short jingle with an announcer saying either "Here comes a new duo" or "Here comes a new duel". Classed as a music track, it is not clear where in the final game this sound effect would've played in place of actual music. Although the player's next opponents are revealed in the post-battle screen in Arcade mode, its length implies it may have been an early version of the loading screen jingle. Can be found in both versions.
Roll's Theme (Japanese)
Roll's Theme (English)
While Roll's Japanese theme is used in battle in Cross Generation of Heroes, Ultimate All-Stars uses an English arrangement over the credits in place of the Can-Can if Arcade mode was completed as Roll. Aside from the translated lyrics, the instrumentation has been completely re-arranged too.
Unused Shorter Can-Can (Infernal Galop)
In the final games, the credits use a looped version of the Can-Can running 4:49 in length, with a finale section to the track. However, there is a shorter version of the song with an ending without any sections looping that can be found in the game's files.
Version Differences
Although the core gameplay and character rosters are almost identical aside from a few tweaks, almost everything else underwent varying amounts of change.
- The Japanese theme song "Across The Border" is a short rock song while the theme in Western releases is an RnB version in complete English with an added rap verse.
- The English opening sequence is entirely different. However, the original Japanese version can be bought in the shop.
- In the Japanese version of Ultimate All-Stars, the training stage has bizarre lyrics. They were removed in the US and European versions.
- Some of the characters had balance tweaks in the Ultimate All-Stars version.
- The amount of Zenny (currency) was increased dramatically in the western release of Ultimate All-Stars, with items in the shop typically costing anywhere between 500,000 to 1,000,000 Zenny to purchase, as opposed to the 200 to 1,000 Zenny in Cross Generation of Heroes and the Japanese release of Ultimate All-Stars. Because of this, the amount of Zenny earned in the western game is also significantly higher.
- Ultimate All-Stars added five new characters to the roster: Frank West, Joe the Condor, Tekkaman Blade, Yatterman-2 and Zero at the expense of losing Hakushon Daimaō from Cross Generation Of Heroes due to rights issues.
- Certain characters (Such as Saki Omokane) are locked by default in Cross Generation of Heroes, but are available to play from the beginning in Ultimate All-Stars.
- In Cross Generation of Heroes, each character has their own theme, corresponding to their source material. Fights start with the first opposing player's theme, then change to whoever most recently swapped into the fight. In Ultimate All-Stars, each stage has its own theme instead.
- Some of the menu tracks underwent changes. Though fundamentally the same tracks, they are noticeably different.
- The Characters menu in the Gallery is missing character biographies in Ultimate-All Stars.
- Also missing in the same menu are each character's ending videos, which were cut altogether. These were short animations produced by Tatsunoko that played after the still images upon finishing the Arcade mode as a character.
- Each character now has a fourth colour in Ultimate All-Stars, whereas only a third colour was unlockable in Cross Generation of Heroes.
- In Cross Generation of Heroes, if you win a fight, pressing the pause button on the controller after "You Win" appears allows you to briefly control the winning character until the game fades out.
- In Cross Generation of Heroes, each character has a small minigame that is unlocked upon finishing Arcade mode as that character. These were removed in Ultimate All-Stars, however...
- By pressing A during the credits, you can play a minigame collecting letters in the credits. In Ultimate All-Stars, collecting the yellow letters (spelling "Thank you for playing"), unlocks an extra game titled "Ultimate All-Shooters". The minigame is PTX-40A's from CGoH.
- In Cross Generation of Heroes, the "giant" character (Gold/Silver Lightan or PTX-40A) is fought in the 7th round in Arcade and 8th in Time Attack. This was moved to the 4th round in both modes in Ultimate All-Stars to signal the halfway point.
Oddities
In both versions of the game, the data found in the gallery is in the incorrectly named folder "gallary".
