The Great Battle IV is the fourth game in the Great Battle series, a sub-series of the Compati Hero series. This game's theme is sci-fi, and so it features many space-ships and alien planets that Ultraman, Kamen Rider, Gundam, and Roa must navigate in order to get to the next game's theme as quickly as possible (they're big cowboy fans).
The visuals and the severely underrated soundtrack give this game a similar vibe to Mega Man X.

At the end of the first level, the Emperor Overlord can be seen piloting a large mecha in the background. The bottom half of the mecha exists, but cannot be seen in regular gameplay.
