Achilles
Texture of the old Achilles model, itself based off the model for the cut Greek Hero.
Apep
The Apep was going to be a Egyptian Myth unit but was cut because of animations problems.
Axeman
The old Axeman texture from 2001 is in the files alongside his icon.
Camel
The Camel is a cut animal, there's also an icon for it. The Camelry and the Camel Caravan textures are based off this.
Camelry
A texture for an early design of the Camelry unit.
Chiron's Shield
Chiron was supposed to have a shield, like most of the Greek Heroes. It was probably removed because it doesn't fit a ranged unit.
Cow
This Cow texture doesn't fit the current game model, so it's probably for an earlier model.
Cyclops
A texture for a cut cinematic Cyclops model. It appears in the E3 2001 showcase.
Eagle
Eagles were planned to appear in the game as another flying unit for Mother Nature. It was added back in the Extended Edition, which doesn't fit the game's Eurasian setting since the Bald Eagle (what the texture is based off) is found in North America only.
Ferryman
Charon, the ferryman of the Greek underworld, was to appear in the game's story according to its texture file name (All story unique units and buildings have scenario in their assets names).
Fish
Two more Fish species would've appeared in the game, Anchovy and Herring.
Frost Giant
The Frost Giant's original design was less humanoid and was more of a clump of hard ice.
Giant Turtle
The War Turtle was originally a Greek Myth unit called the "Giant Turtle", and was far bigger than it is in the final game.
Golem
The Golem is a cut Greek Myth unit, only his texture remains. It was cut because the developers didn't "really like him" and his role was filled by the Colossus.[1]
It was added in the Extended Edition as a hidden unit in the editor.
Greek Hero
A cinematic texture for the cut Greek Hero, whose model was used by Misenus, an early hero of the game. It appears at the E3 2001 showcase.
Griffon
A cut Greek Myth unit, it was removed because the developers didn't want to "invest a lot of R&D into a flying unit that had a ground attack" and "having a griffon rider did seem to get too close to fantasy".[2]
It was added in the Extended Edition as a hidden unit, and cut again from the game's remaster.
Hawk
An early texture for the Hawk, which matches its cut icon. It bears a strong resemblance to the Hawk from Age of Empires II.
For the final game, a darker texture is used.

Hetairoi
An unused texture of the Hetairoi, for the Copper Cavalry improvement. While the unique units for the Greek Major Gods do benefit from upgrades, their appearance do not change like the rest of the human units. Perhaps this wasn't case at some point, at least for the Hetairoi.
Horse
Horses are one of the many cut Mother Nature units that would've appeared in the game, they can be seen in some prerelease screenshots. In addition to this texture, there's also an empty model file named horse.
Hydra
A texture for an old Hydra model. It's interesting to note that the Hydra was originally a Naval Unit before it was separated into two units.
Hypaspist
Both cinematic and in-game textures for the original Hypaspist design are in the game files. The Hypaspist was featured heavily in early promotional media, his cinematic model appears in the E3 2001 showcase and the in-game model in many prerelease screenshots.
Kronos
Kronos was going to appear in the game, partially at least. Probably in the Unlikely Heroes scenario, the only instance of a Gate of Hades opening. The texture file spells his name as Chronos instead.
Medusa
Texture for an old Medusa model, that's it really.
Mercenary Cavalry (Upgrade)
The Mercenary Cavalry was supposed to change appearance, at least just the horse they ride, either through the Medjay technology or a cut one.

Norse Hero
A cinematic texture for the cut Norse Hero.
Norse Siege
Like the other civilizations, the Norse also had access to Catapults and Siege Towers at one point but were cut after the playable civilizations became less and less symmetrical in gameplay.
There's also a leftover texture for an old model of the Ballista. All three have unused accompanying icons that match these textures.
Norse Statues
Textures for cut Norse world statues, they consist of objects or animals standing on a rock, each represent one of the Major Gods. Loki is represented by a Raven, which is not what he's associated with in the final game. Odin, on the other hand, by a Deer skull (with a separate texture for the Antlers).
The statue for Loki can be seen in some prerelease screenshots.
Nubian Goat
A cut second variant for the Goat, which would've probably appeared in Egyptian maps since the default variant appears only in Greek and Norse styled maps.
Ram
A cut animal, whose icon and model are still in the game. It was added back in the Extended Edition.
Road
Textures for a stone road in sand terrain. These aren't found in the actual terrain folder so perhaps these roads were intended to be placed like units on the ground, much like the roads from Age of Empires III.
Scorpion Man (Upgrade)
This unused texture would've been used by the Scorpion Man when an unknown cut technology has been researched.
Scylla
The Scylla was humanoid in appearance, prerelease screenshots show a model of a serpent-like creature with heads of humans that match this texture.
Slinger
Much like the other Egyptian infantry, the old texture from 2001 of the Slinger is in the files but no icon can be found.
Spearman
The old 2001 texture of the Spearman unused within the files, no icon though.
Trash
Mysteriously named Trash, its 256x256 size suggests it's for a cinematic model of an unknown unit, perhaps for Norse since it resembles the cinematic texture for the Norse Hero. It looks very unpolished and unfinished.
Trash Weapon
There's also this texture named trash weapon, probably meant to go alongside it.
Ulfsark
The texture for the old 2001 model of the Ulfsark.
Utility Ship
