Hmmm...
To do:
  • Prerelease screenshots from ITMedia use an early courtroom design. A full view of that courtroom is also floating around on the net, also sourced from ITMedia.
  • Version differences:
    • 3DS port supposedly has translation improvements over the iOS/Android port
    • HD versions supposedly spoil something early due to [rot13 due to spoiler: gur cbegenvg ba gur jnyy ng Jevtug Nalguvat Ntrapl] being easier to make out

A continuation of the Ace Attorney trilogy, Apollo Justice: Ace Attorney features a novice defense lawyer's quest to save his hero's reputation and reform that dreaded law system.

Unused Character Sprites

Hmmm...
To do:
Valant has unused particles in his breakdown. Rip them and document them here.

AJAA Young Klavier Disbelief.gif

An animation for young Klavier Gavin shaking his head in disbelief. While this animation is used with his older, 2026 counterpart, this animation never plays for young, 2019 Klavier.

Additionally, graphics exist in the ROM for an alternate version of the "holding documents" pose for Apollo in which he looks over the top of the page. These graphics also exist in the Android port. These graphics are stored in 16-color chunks, which are layered at runtime. Below are the raw graphics, a mockup of the assembled graphic, and comparisons between a mockup of the unused pose and the used version.

Unused Perceive Graphics

Loaded into tile memory alongside the used subscreen (in this case, the top screen) background graphics is a texture which appears to be an early version of that background. Unlike the final, it is static and does not use palette cycling. This texture is also present in the 3DS version, where it is mirrored vertically to reach the same 256x256 resolution as the final DS graphic.

Kristoph Gavin's base Perceive sprite has a crude doodle of the Blue Badger from the first game's fifth case on his hand where his "tell" normally is. This is overlaid with his "tell" graphics in-game, and is impossible to see. This doodle does not exist in later versions, and the hand is simply blank instead. (Click the image for a full size view.)

Demo Leftovers

Several images from the demo version can still be found within the final game, unused.

Other Unused Images

Unused Music

  • BGM00DS - An empty track.
  • BGM53DS - "Initial Investigation 2001" is present in the game, untouched from the original game. Considering how the fourth episode reuses a lot of the music from the original game, it's reasonable to assume this would be used there too.

Save Data Version Info

Like in the previous game, there is some version info that is used in the save data. It is unknown if the version info is for the save format or the game. The string is identical in all versions of the game.
