The Phoenix Wright: Ace Attorney Trilogy from 2019 is mostly the same as the 2014 3DS release, but shinier! Even more so now, after an an update released in November 2025 brought it up to snuff with the other modern Ace Attorney re-releases.

Hmmm...
To do:
*There are still some unused graphics with minor differences, possibly leftover from the 3DS version.
  • A different credits sequence made up of still images.
  • Document the new update, and if it changed/removed any unused content. The revised credits added localization editors for the new version; see if any text was revised.
  • The Blue Badger reference on child Phoenix's shirt during his flashback was edited out.
  • Lots and LOTS of text changes.

Unused Music

Early Credits Theme
As the filename suggests, credit_test is an earlier version of the Trilogy Credits theme (mayoi_short_inst).

Unused Used

Extended Credits Theme
mayoi_short_inst_long is an extended version of the Trilogy Credits theme, longer by about a minute. The used version ends around the 1:28 mark.

Leftovers
Additionally, the old crowd sound and BGM094 from the previous release are still here.

Unused Graphics

Phoenix Wright: Ace Attorney

The unused sprites for Edgeworth and Larry were remade, but still remain unused. The unused sprite for Phoenix is missing entirely. Neither of these redrawn sprites are seen in the Scene Editor.

Justice for All

Two copies of this placeholder graphic appear in with the background graphics.

A thumbnail for the circus entrance at night. While it is seen during the opening to Episode 3, it is never visited at night during the investigation.

Three unused thumbnails for locations not visited during the investigation. The first is Kane Bullard's office without the outline from the 2nd case and the last two are Dusky Bridge on fire and the undisturbed Inner Temple Garden from the 5th case.

Unused duplicates of two images of the front of Hazakura Temple, marked for use with the English language setting. These are left over from porting the 3DS version (which this version is based upon), in which these images were erroneously localized and left unused. These are identical to the used versions, which are used regardless of language setting.

Regional Differences

Ace Attorney - Episode 1

Careful, you'll lose an eye.
This page or section needs more images.
There's a whole lotta words here, but not enough pictures. Please fix this.

The differences with passports has been retained. The high definition graphics make it obvious that the bottom text says "United States of America" in the English version. In the Brazilian Portuguese localization, it was changed to a passport from Brazil. [1]

Justice for All - Episode 4

Juan Corrida previously had his last name changed to "Rivera" in the European Spanish localization. In the new Latin American Spanish localization, his full name was changed to Victor Carrera.[2]

Revisional Differences

Graphic Changes

Justice for All - Episode 2

In all prior releases of the second game, Dr. Grey's animation had him push his glasses up with his middle finger. Starting with the 3DS release and carrying over to the 2019 version, he was redrawn to use his index finger instead.

Justice for All - Episode 4

The Viola Hall background appears in its original uncensored form.
