Rayman 2 comes to the GBA!

...No, that number is not a typo. This game was originally envisioned as a straight adaptation of Rayman 2: The Great Escape, but with the release of Hoodlum Havoc on the horizon (try saying that 5 times fast) various elements of Rayman 3 were woven into the game mid-development. The finished product ultimately has more in common with the former game overall, with most of the Rayman 3 material amounting to the inclusion of André the "Dark Lum" into the plot, the Hoodlums appearing as minor enemies, and the game's general art direction. People wanting a "proper" portable Rayman 3 would get some consolation a couple years later, in the form of Rayman: Hoodlum's Revenge.

But as fate would have it, this would not be the last GBA Rayman game to get retrofitted into a different entry...

Inaccessible Level

Ly's Punch Challenge 3 is a bonus level in the Pirate Stronghold world, intended to be unlocked by linking the game to a fully-complete save of the GameCube version. Problem is, the requirements for said "full completion" expect the 2D Nightmare minigame to be beaten, which due to an oversight in this game is impossible to unlock. As a result, Punch Challenge 3 cannot be unlocked by proxy.

Cheat Codes

On the world map screen that lets you move between the four hub areas, holding Select allows you to input these cheat codes:

Code Effect Notes
R, A, A, A Unlocks all upgrades acquired from Ly.
B, B, B, A, A, A Sets lives to 99. The only cheat that doesn't cause a hitch in the music when entered.
Up, Left, Down, Right, B, A, L, R Unlocks all levels. This cheat is saved to the file, and also unlocks all upgrades. Teensies will still block progress if you don't have enough Lums/Cages.
Down, Up, Down, Up, A, Left, B, Right Gives you all 1000 Lums and all 50 Cages. This cheat is saved to the file, and also activates the effects of the other 3 cheats.

Notably, using either of the last two cheats marks the final level as completed, meaning they are the only way to access 2D Nightmare in Hoodlum Havoc (and by extension, Ly's Punch Challenge 3 in this game) without using external devices!
