SOMETIMES I SEE A TEXT BOX AND I JUST CAN'T HELP MYSSDFGFFDHFGDJGGFSHGDFH
This page sucks.
If you could make it suck less, that would be awesome.
Specifically: Bad grammar, formatting and not enough details about the content itself.
So very stubbly.
This page is rather stubbly and could use some expansion.
Are you a bad enough dude to rescue this article?
Hmmm...
To do:
Apparently, there's unused dialogue. The dialogue gave the game more of a plot, but the developers cut it for unknown reasons.
  • All PC releases include the strings and code for the debug menu, like the one in Legends. The menu would be accessed by holding down 3 buttons on a controller, but in the final build these buttons do not get checked for and thus it can't be activated without cheats. The menu itself doesn't render the text, possibly due to a missing font, but it does render the border and still functions as intended.

Rayman Origins is the first major game in the series since Rayman 3 and returns to the 2D roots of the original game. Rayman and his friends are tasked with saving the Glade of Dreams from the evil Darktoons.

Rayman creator Michel Ancel returned to the series with this game and it was the first game to use the UbiArt Framework.

Hmmm...
To do:
There most likely are more.

Scrapped Object

Acactussayswhat?
Please elaborate.
Having more detail is always a good thing.
Specifically: Is this and the piranha typically unused in the final game (able to be seen in debug) or only seen in trailers?

Spike fruit

The player-damaging object that appeared in Rayman 1 was supposed to return in Origins. The spiky fruit was shown in the E3 2010 trailer, but was removed from the final version for unknown reasons.

Scrapped Enemies

Large piranha

Larger piranhas were intended to make a return in Rayman Origins, but they were scrapped. Artwork of the game depicts the piranha as a fish with a gigantic mouth and enormous teeth, blue-orange skin and red eyes. Their attack pattern is unknown but an artwork from The Daily Bubble shows one with its jaws wide open, suggesting that it would try to bite the players similarly to how Darktoons attack in the game.

Those larger piranhas also appear on the icon of the achievement/trophy "Survivor!", despite the latter being unlocked by interacting with the smaller piranhas.

Debug Arguments

Hmmm...
To do:
Figure out the full list of arguments.

Creating a file named cmdline.txt allows you to execute some debug arguments such as being invincible or loading a map.

Unused Animations

Hmmm...
To do:
There are more! Also, add descriptions for every animation.

There's a few animations left on the disc, many of which are for the main characters.

Unused Levels

There are two test levels. This level is titled "flowerflat" in the game's files.

This level is titled "livingflat" in the game's files.

Unused Music

A cut rock tune is present on the disc, likely for either a Mr. Dark boss fight when he was intended to be the villain or a cutscene where the Magician reveals himself to be Mr. Dark's biggest fan. In the regular game, you get attacked by robot bosses before chasing him.

Unused Subtitles

The PS Vita version contains unused subtitles for the origin stories that remain in the game's files.

They say Rayman was once as bald as a full moon on Rayday.

And Raynette loved him that way.

Meanwhile, the Mini-Villi set out in search of their promised land.

After centuries of wandering, desperate and delirious...

They came upon a snoozing couple...

A glorious sun rose over a land of perfect proportions...

‘Eureka!' said the mini-villus mini-king upon discovering Ray's shiny egg-head...

‘Home at last!!' cried the Mini-Villi, who threw down their bags and took root right then and there.

The Mini-Villi threw down their bags and took root then and there.

‘Eeek!' shrieked Raynette at the unsightly ‘do...

‘Ahhhh!' screamed Ray at the mini-invasion...

N/A

Running Rayman right over a cliff.

To his doom.

Or not. ‘Phew!', sighed Ray.

‘Your welcome!' replied the Mini-Villi, as Rayman glided into the sunset with Glade's best head of hair.
One day, the ever-insatiable young Globox was stuffing himself silly with the delectable fruit of the blubue buberruby bubush.

Little did he know that his buffet was home to a venomous blubue bubeastubie...

... and the bubeastubie wasn't giving up its eye without a fight!

Finally, greedy Globox just went ahead and popped the whole bubeastubie down his gullet.

As he soon discovered, blubue bubeastubies tend to travel in swarms...

Singularly savage swarms, at that.

The blubue bubeastubie's buddies finally cornered the Shubamuban and really let him have it.

Poor Globox stumbled home covered in nasty bubeastubie buboils.

The buboils healed, but the damage was done. The bubeastubie venom had turned young Globox a permanent shade of blue, and the magic peoples learned a valuable lesson: Always beat a buberruby bubush before stuffing ones belly...

Attract Leftovers

The attract video that plays when waiting on the title screen has a few differences. The footage seems to be a B-roll of footage used for trailers.

The Snoring Tree

Rayman changes to the Raybox costume (with the 5 Electoon sign above it) in the video. However, the Electoon count shows 0, hinting that debug content was used.

Swinging Caves

The video starts with footage from the E3 2011 trailer of Swinging Caves, with the early HUD.

Hi-Ho Moskito!

The Boss Bird fight has a different layout.

Polar Pursuit

Footage from the Around the World trailer of Globox sliding in this level is seen, where Globox on the HUD is oddly enough in a 4:3 position. This hints that maybe the 4:3 mode was supposed to be proper instead of just 16:9 letterboxed.

Murray of the Deep

Footage from the Around the World trailer is seen, where the Lum counter does not have the number of Lums for some reason.

The Momma of All Nightmares

Big Momma's roar is different from the one heard in both the Around the World trailer and the E3 2010 trailer.

Version Differences

Wii

The Wii version has three control types: Wii Remote, Nunchuk and Classic Controller.

PlayStation Vita

  • You can pinch the screen to zoom in. New Magician dialog was added for this in "Geyser Blowout".
  • You can use the touchscreen to pop bubblized enemies and collect Lums. New trophies were added for these features.
  • There are blue and red relics hidden around the levels, with new trophies being added for them. Finding all of one color will unlock a backstory for either Rayman or Globox in the Snoring Tree.
  • To compensate for there being no multiplayer mode, a new "Ghost Mode" was added where you beat developer times.
