Half-Life is Valve's legendary debut title. That has been regarded to have revolutionized the rest of the First-Person Shooter genre (and maybe even the whole game industry) for its story and gameplay. It features silent protagonist Doctor Gordon Freeman during his adventures in the Black Mesa Research Facility (and later the alien world Xen) during a disaster involving aliens, scientists, security guards and later the military, featuring a whole sandbox-number of weapons (famously the crowbar) and a mysterious all-powerful man that keeps following him every now and then.
The game also contains a whole load of unused/scrapped content, including unused textures, models, sounds, entities and content hidden in maps, that each reveal certain moments in the game or certain characters and items that the player never got to see. It also features some other interesting unused content, like how some certain areas between two maps can look completely different from each other or even remnants of a cut co-op mechanic!
It also features unique censorship found in the German release and a few rare prototypes that found their way to the public, one of which that dates to a whole year before the release looking nothing like the final game!

A fully-functional unused feature allows you to name the player's mother in Pokémon Gold and Silver. This feature was used in the Spaceworld '97 demo's dummied-out story mode, where Silver offers you a choice between おかあさん (お母さん Mother), ママ (Mama), かあちゃん (母ちゃん Mommy), or choosing your own name. The name itself can be displayed in text via byte 49. The mother's name is initialized to MOM when RAM is initialized at boot.
Curiously, during the DUDE's Pokémon-catching tutorial, the player's name is copied over to the same location in RAM where the mother's name is stored. This suggests that by the time the tutorial was created, the naming mechanism was either already unused or deferred until the tutorial was no longer accessible.
